Frequently
Asked Subscription Questions. (Well ones I would ask)! |
Q
I
love this site, I love this game, but where do I make my $15
subscription? |
A
It
will be a few weeks before the subscription software is set-up. You
can subscribe now if you wish, by simply clicking
here. Your subscription details, will be added to the
subscription database, later on. You will not have to do anything,
to continue playing your games at my site, if subscribing now. If
you are making a subscription for a friend, please enter their e-mail address,
in the optional message box, when using Pay Pal. |
|
Q
If I
subscribe now, when will my subscription start? |
A
Your
subscription will start, on the day the subscription software
starts. That will be in a few weeks time. |
|
Q
What
exactly do I get for my $15? |
A
Your
$15 allows you access to my site, for 12 months. |
|
Q
What
happens if I do not want to subscribe? |
A
You
would not be able to access my site. There are other
Scrabble sites on the Net, most will charge at some point, and far in excess
of what I ask. I know one site that charges $70 a year, and I am
told even the ISC charge to play at their site. Some sites will
charge, just to use their dictionaries. Would it not be best, to
know you can play here, hassle free for 12 months, and not be
continually nagged to make a donation? |
|
Q
What
happens if only a few players subscribe, would your site fold and
close? |
A
I do
not anticipate that outcome. I base that, on the numbers
already playing here. I also would not be upfronting a substantial
amount of my money, into a
subscription service, if I felt it was counter-productive. |
|
Q
I do
not have a Pay Pal account, how can I make my $15 subscription? |
A
You
do not need a Pay Pal account to subscribe, you can use your Credit
Card. |
|
Q
I do
not have a Pay Pal account, nor a Credit Card, how can I make my $15
subscription? |
A
You
can either ask a friend to purchase a coupon for you, to subscribe
on your behalf, or post your subscription me. My postal address
details, can be found by clicking
here. |
|
Q
I
have a Pay Pal account, what e-mail address do I use, to make my
subscription? |
A
You
can send your subscription using this e-mail address, admin@thepixiepit.co.uk |
|
Q
I
made a donation using Pay Pal, but the e-mail address I use for my games,
is different. How can I use that e-mail address for my games? |
A
Send
me your Pay Pal receipt, and the e-mail address you use for your games, and
I will add that e-mail address, to the subscription database. |
|
Q
I live
in a Country, that Pay Pal will not allow me, to enter my currency.
How can I subscribe, and how much is $15, in my currency? |
A
You
can covert most major currencies, by clicking
here. Then send your subscription to my postal address, which can
be found by clicking here. |
|
Q
If I
subscribe, and create a new game, making myself player 1, would player
2 get that game for free? |
A
No, player 2 would also need to subscribe, in order to play. That also
applies for 3 and 4 player games.
|
|
Q
I
posted you a donation in the last 12 months. Can that be used as my 12
month subscription? |
A
I can add e-mail addresses, into the subscription database, if you have
proof of sending a postal donation.
|
|
Q
I live on a fixed income, does this mean I
cannot play here anymore? |
A
I honestly
believe $15 per year, is not beyond anyone's means. $15 a year, is less than 90 cents
per month, or almost 20 cents a week. |
|
Q
Why are you now asking for all players, to subscribe $15 to play at
your site? |
A
I was not allowed, for legal reasons, to charge players in the past.
My Legal Advisors, after 15 months of negotiations, have told me to go
ahead with this. A
$15 subscription per player, per year, also secures my site's future,
and is so much fairer, than the donation system, which sadly, was
never going to work out.
|
|
Q
I often play from my
workplace. Will I still be able to do that, if I subscribe? |
A
Many employers will block
non-work related e-mails. If you received your game postings on your
work e-mail address, then there is no reason, why that cannot
continue. |
|
Q
What happens, if I change my e-mail address, part way through my
subscription? |
A
I can update your e-mail address in the database. You may also be able to do
that yourself.
|
|
Q
I have donated more than $15, many times in the last 12 months. Can my
donations give me more than the next 12 months? |
A
This highlights the inequities of the donation system, inasmuch as, I
repeatedly had to ask for donations, which I never liked having to do. I would love to extend it beyond
12 months, but that is not possible sorry. |
|
Q
I am one of those players, who has always wanted to donate, but either
forgot, or was too busy. If I subscribe now, would you hold that
against me, for not donating in the past I mean? |
A
I have
absolutely no animosity, towards any players, who have played here for
free. In fact, I wish I could keep my site free, but that is not
possible. |
|
Q
Why don't you use advertising, and do away with subscriptions? |
A
Believe
me, I have tried almost every scheme going in the past. None of them
raised enough, to pay my running costs, for one week even ! I also want my site, to be solely for playing Scrabble, with no distractions. |
|
Q
What guarantees can you give me, that this subscription software will
work? |
A
The
subscription software will reside in a MySQL DBase. I have
commissioned a very reliable Company, here in the UK, who specialise
in making tailor made subscription DBases. I have already met with
their Senior Technical Software Engineer. I was very impressed with
what they can set-up for me, and I have every confidence, that this
will work very smoothly. You may read about their Company by clicking
here. |
|
Q
I think you are despicable, and a cheapskate for asking for $15 from
each player. What do you have to say about that? |
A
My intentions are purely to secure my site, so that players may enjoy
their games here. I could ask for much more than $15, as some sites
do, but I am not a greedy person. I have poured thousands of pounds of
my own money into this game, just to keep it free, from 1998 until
April 2003. I have never made a profit, and if I do, I will put that
back into the game, by making the subscription, less than $15 per
year, Michael. |
